Measurement for Quantum

Removing barriers to innovation

Access specialist science and engineering expertise at no charge

Measurement for Quantum is a leading NPL programme which provides up to 20 days of specialist quantum measurement expertise to solve your business’s measurement challenges at no charge.

Through Measurement for Quantum, NPL helps companies bridge the gap from technology prototype to industry-ready new product or service.

To date, over two thirds of companies who have participated in the M4Q programme have reported that their commercial opportunity has increased as a direct result of their M4Q project. Half of respondents also expect to see increased sales in new or existing markets. NPL supports innovation by helping companies bring new products to market quickly and reliably, which delivers the confidence required for investment.

The project was excellent and hyper-effective. It introduced us to measurement possibilities we hadn’t considered, delivering huge value to our new product’s calibration and ongoing R&D, and hopefully it’s long-term commercial success. Without NPL’s expertise and access to the full range of cutting-edge measurement options, this important work may not have gone ahead, or succeeded.

Without the results of our work on the Measurement for Quantum Scheme, it was difficult for us to provide robust evidence to back up our commercial claims. The guaranteed performance figures we now have are a critical step on our route to developing a truly disruptive technology. We simply could not have done this ourselves, and the detailed results from this work are already helping us to increase commercial opportunities in new markets.
